Baraka is a platform that connects customers with restaurants and food businesses to purchase surplus food at reduced prices, helping to reduce food waste while providing value to both parties.
Our Service allows customers to browse and purchase "surprise boxes" containing surplus food from participating vendors, and allows vendors to list their surplus food for sale.
3. User Accounts
When you create an account with us, you must provide accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for safeguarding the password and for all activities that occur under your account.
You agree not to:
- Use another person's account without permission
- Create multiple accounts for the purpose of abuse
- Share your account credentials with others
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
4. Customer Terms
As a customer using our Service, you agree to:
- Pick up your orders during the specified time window
- Cancel orders at least 2 hours before pickup time if unable to collect
- Treat vendors and their staff with respect
- Understand that surprise box contents may vary
- Consume food within recommended timeframes
- Report any food safety concerns immediately
5. Vendor Terms
As a vendor using our Service, you agree to:
- Only list food that meets safety standards and is fit for consumption
- Provide accurate descriptions and photos of your offerings
- Maintain proper food handling and storage practices
- Honor pickup times and prepare orders as specified
- Respond to customer inquiries promptly
- Comply with all applicable food safety regulations
6. Payment and Fees
All prices are displayed in local currency. Payment is processed through our secure payment system at the time of order placement.
Baraka charges a service fee on each transaction. This fee helps cover platform costs and is clearly displayed before purchase.
Refunds are processed according to our refund policy, typically within 5-7 business days.
7. Food Safety and Quality
While we work with vendors who commit to food safety standards, customers acknowledge that:
- Food is sold "as is" and may have limited shelf life
- Customers should use their judgment when consuming food
- Baraka is not responsible for food-borne illnesses
- Vendors are responsible for their own food safety compliance
8. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization
- List unsafe or illegal food items
9. Privacy

10. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the use of our Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
